The Bible contains a number of prophecies regarding a blood moon, and we know what causes them – a total lunar eclipse.
What God intended a lunar eclipse to symbolize is a persecution of God’s people.
The moon is a symbol for God’s people reflecting the pure light of Christ (the sun) into the world at night when Jesus (the sun) is not with us. [Source: The Gospel According to Nature]
A lunar eclipse is when the earth comes between the moon and the sun preventing that light from being reflected. The result is a moon that literally will glow red like blood. This is a symbolic representation of the world coming between God’s people and their King by persecution. It symbolizes God’s people covered in the blood of martyrdom.
Tonight’s blood moon is especially important because it is the first of four blood moons that are coming over the next year and a half. And all four are going to fall precisely on the most important Jewish holidays, namely Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles this year, and then again on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles next year.
This series of blood moons is called a tetrad and tetrads are very rare. Even more rare for one to fall precisely on Jewish holidays. The last one before the 20th century was in 1492, the year the Jews were tortured by the Spanish Inquisition and evicted from Spain. In the 20th century, they occurred at the Israeli War of Independence and the Six-Day War in 1967.
Another very unusual occurrence is that another astrological event is lining up with the blood moon today, an event called “The Day of Opposition” when Mars and Earth line up perfectly with the sun. Tonight, as the moon turns to blood, Mars will draw near and reach its closest point to earth. Mars, of course, represents war. It’s hard not to draw inference from so much lining up on the same day.
We are seeing the nations lining up against Israel again today. This time, unfortunately, both Europe and the United States are abandoning Israel to face its enemies alone. It is very probable that this series of blood moons now is a portent of a new war against Israel. (We should not look for the war to start tomorrow, but if historical connections to blood moons are any indication of future activity, it could come in the next 1 – 2 years.)
I would encourage our Jewish friends with the knowledge that God will defend you. Do not fear. Even if the United States does not stand with you, God will not forget you, so have faith and be strong!
